Who is in control of the affairs of mankind--Almighty God, the devil, or blind chance? In a world of confusion and chaos, the word to the Christian is 'Fear not!' 'All things' are subject to God's power: 'all things' work according to the counsel of his will, and 'all things' work together for the good to them that love God.
This of course raises a number of questions, such as If God is sovereign, why pray? Or, if God is sovereign, why is there so much suffering? As we describe the sovereignty of God over creation, salvation, history, law, suffering, prayer and education, we will seek to answer common objections that this topic naturally provokes.
Nevertheless, it is our firm conviction that all the events of our lives--from the glorious to the tragic to the mundane--are all part of a divine design, which should fill God's people with security, confidence, and boldness.
